Veiled Chameleon boy/girl

Hello everyone
First time chameleon owner here. I just got a baby and I’ve been trying to figure out if it is a boy or a girl. Ive already put an egg bin in the cage because im not sure how old it is. I know the spurs are a good indicator but with my little knowledge I’m not sure if there are spurs. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank you so much! Do you happen to know how old she looks? I did see her on the bottom of the cage the other day which I put the egg bin in after. I just want to make sure I’m not going to disturb her if she’s preparing to lay eggs anytime soon.

Your female Chamaeleo calypatratus I am going to estimate and say is 1 year oldish. Your female looks to be too young to start breeding at this time. However I am not a Chamaeleo calypatratus keeper so do not quote me about.

Well, I can tell you that she hasn’t yet reached sexual maturity since she hasn’t developed her colors or patterns yet. I’ll guess that she’s maybe around 5-6 months old based on her size. She still has some growing to do.

Thank you! I definitely got a little nervous when reading about the issues females can have with their eggs lol. I will start implementing the diet changes you mentioned in your linked post! Thank you again for the help!

Usually, as long as your husbandry is correct, your girl shouldn’t have any issues or problems with her eggs. Of course there’s exceptions to every rule and things beyond our control. Knowing what to look for and taking prompt action if problems noticed will help your cutie. If you want, we can go over your husbandry and make sure all is correct.

Usually, as long as your husbandry is correct, your girl shouldn’t have any issues or problems with her eggs. Of course there’s exceptions to every rule and things beyond our control. Knowing what to look for and taking prompt action if problems noticed will help your cutie. If you want, we can go over your husbandry and make sure all is correct.

I’ve attached a photo of my step up. Currently her basking area is 81 degrees and everything is on a 12 hr cycle. I mist her cage in the morning and at night. I also have the repti zoo fogger that runs at night and turns off at the proper humidity levels. I feed her small crickets and I have adjusted her diet from 10-15 to now 10-8 which are dusted with repti calcium without d3. I believe her egg bin is a little too small but so is her cage (I am moving soon and plan on upgrading so this is a temporary cage)
I really appreciate your help and please let me know if I should change anything or if I'm missing something!
