veiled cham with broken arm?

Agred take it back. It must say UBV, not uv, not uva. It is confusing, but that is why new owners have a hard time. They never should have sold you that bulb if they knew it was a UBV you were looking for....anything for a sale :(

i don't understand why people can't just look up things before they begin investing... i mean come on you spend so much money on an animal you mightaswell spend some time looking for caresheets

i spent 500~ dollars on ONE pet, and that was all the motivation i needed to start spending another 200 towards her lifespan...

They listen to the people selling them the animal. They call themselves specialists. Until something happens, the average person does not have any reason not to believe what they were told is not true.

Once fooled, it does not happen again. No matter what the animal is.

you know. the person who told me that a heat cable was great for chams was wrong. How do i know? because i looked it up before buying it. Some people need to cut less on impulsivity.

Yeah you're brilliant, good job. Half the caresheets on the Internet on chams are absolutely terrible so this person very well may have looked at one and still was totally misled. This person is already past that point so you're preaching to the choir. No need to beat a dead horse here.

i joined the forums before my chameleon was even in the shopping cart.
I asked TONS of questions, anything i couldnt find online, even some tips that sounded absurd i asked about. some were true, some werent. i found these forums by googling questions. and they always redirected here. Seriously It's all about learning before doing.

would you cannonball into a pool because someone TOLD you there was water down there? or would you check first?

I agree, and so did I when it came to getting my dog and reptiles later in life (meaning, college lol). But when I was a small kid and got a pet rabbit or bird, my family and I trusted the people running the stores. In theory, why wouldn't we? They're supposed to be trained professionals. We'd always buy a little book about the pet, and it usually mirrored what the pet stores were saying, so our pets always did alright. Now they probably would have done better, if I'd known then what I know now, but still.

Just like I trust the guy at Home Depot to guide me in the right direction when I'm looking for something for a project. They haven't led me wrong yet, which is nice. You hope the people working in their positions know things. It's just a shame when people at pet stores don't care enough to do their research so they can be better at their jobs, frankly.

has this cham been to the vet for calcium shots yet??????, this cham is in serious need of a vet, and proper caging as well as lighting..a 55 gallon fish tank a foot off the floor does no good..

That was you and kudos for doing so- others have not- please stop being condescending to the OP.
They realized they were in trouble, found us and is asking for help.
Preaching to them, how you did it will not make them stay nor fix the situation.

Help them- do not hinder them:D

khunu, I know it's overwhelming and no one really wants you to go broke.

We want you to read up and do as much as you reasonably can. Not all of it costs a lot of money. This board doesn't recommend you go get an expensive heat bulb...no, this board recommends you use a regular, cheap, incandescent bulb you can buy at the grocery store!

This board is all about making it as inexpensive as possible to do the every day stuff.

Please don't get angry. Just tell us where you're having troubles and we'll try to help you.

If you can't take it to a vet you can buy liquid calcium gluconate or calcium sandoz at the pharmacy. This will take longer to work and is not the best option, of course.

Make sure it has nothing else along with the calcium. You can give it to the chameleon using a needleless syringe or eye dropper....just be careful since its thick and syrupy and hard for the chameleon to swallow....and you don't want to get any into its lungs. You still need a proper UVB light.

Hope this helps.

What do you still need? I may have a few extra supplies that I could send you, mostly supplements and whatnot. Or at least help you figure out where to get them cheaply. We just want to help!

alright i do have liquid calcium ive been giving her three-four drops a day should i give her more less? unfortunately i have to wait for a day off of school and work so i can drive to the city so i can get a reptisun lamp which i will get asap
