Veiled Cham paralyzed??

He is doing better! He tries to move his back legs a little bit now. He still eats the worms and the doctor put a splint on his front left leg because it was broken. I told the vet euthanasia was the very last resort I would take if he had a fighting chance of getting better, and he told me to keep him as comfortable as possible so I have been. Hopefully I'll see more progression as the weeks come. Thank you guys for the help, and the concern!

well, NOT OBVIOUSLY because i do own a cat and i keep my cage ontop of a cabinet WITH NO SPACE FOR A CAT TO STAND ON around the perimeter.. also i have something called a DOOR to my room. which i easily close going in and out of my room. just one more simple responsibility of owning a cham, dont leave predators lurking around your buddy 24/7 thats just silly because animals will be animals.. sorta an immature statement on your part.

I too have cats who defy boundaries, and as an animal person I want my animals around me. So when I'm working in the computer room, where the chams are, I'm not going to shut the door and lock my cats and dogs out. I want them around me, and they don't want to be separate either. The cats aren't interested in the chams unless I'm in the room (since they follow me room to room). And even though all my cages are 4 feet off the ground that doesn't stop one from ocassionally getting too interested and leaping up at the cages. There is no room at all for them to stand anywhere near the cage and they can't get on top. But I have had to unhook their claws from the screen as they dangle on the screen door from time to time. He jumps up and just hangs there, tail twictching. My chams barely give them a second thought, and I unhook the cat, squirt him with the squirt bottle and off he scampers. Then usually he comes back and snuggles in my lap as I work. This happens maybe once a week or so total. Does that make me an irresponsible owner as well? Maybe you shouldn't be so immature as to assume to judge everyone. Things are not always as simple as we'd like them to be.live and learn. Clearly the situation didn't work as the OP wanted. I think he's well aware of that without your 'expertise'.
 
Oh, geeze...are some still blaming the owner? Yes, I'm sure the owner feels horrible and knows that he bears responsibility...why does discussion of helping the chameleon (the theoretical reason for this forum) need to rub his face in that. I'm quite sure nothing said here is worse than what he's said to himself, but the fact is, that's not what we are here for.

Awesome news! I am glad to hear things are better! We are rootin for him!

And IMO, this could have happened to anyone, no matter how much they might suggest otherwise ;)
 
so glad cham is doing better!

since this thread has also seemed to turn into a cat thread, i figured i would throw in my "irresponsible" cat story!

my cat loves twister and guards him, especially when he is sick. (sometimes even from me. lol) she didn't even try to hurt him when he grabbed her nose trying to climb on her. they hang out all the time.

Hoping things are getting better?

Haven't heard anymore updates on this and was just wondering how things are going for you and your baby?

Hey guys! Sorry for lack of updates! Pascal is doing amazing! He is a little trooper! He is showing signs that he wants to climb. Right now I have him in my aquarium since it's smaller than his 3x3, with a wire top for air flow (not negligence) with also a few sticks at the bottom, and he will climb up on them. But I don't feel comfortable putting him in his big cage yet! He has another vet appointment on the 4th, and hopefully he'll get his little cast off! Thanks for the help guys
 
Good news, and thank you for letting us know.

I recommend putting the light off to one side in a situation like that. Do not put it in the center of the cage. With it to the side, you can, in fact, get airflow as the warm air under the light is pulled out of the cage, cooler air will be pulled in from the other side.
