Veiled Cham Cost

OK, So I am raising money for a veiled cham. I think if I raise enough, my dad will know I want it, and feel better about buying him.
I already have 45 dollars, and I am going to work at his shop today.
Im wondering, about how much total would it be for everything from everything from the Cham to the vines?
My first cham cost 688 dollars, and I didnt even buy the adult cage yet. The place was extremely overpriced, though.
Thanks. :)

I bought my Veiled for $80 alone.
I bought my 16x16x30 screened cage for $50 from someone off Craigslist, and the rest of the stuff (vines, lights, calcium, etc.) cost me about $250.
I spend at least $10 a week on crickets.

the trick is finding sufficient "alternatives" that will decrease the total cost and help your budget out alot

examples.
making your own cage is usually so much cheaper than buying a screen cage. it is fun to do, budget friendly, and what you reap in the end is priceless.

dollar-craft stores usually supply loads of fake plants, trees and vines. a thourough wash to get all of the dyes out and an inspection to scope out loose wiring and what not, will fill your terrarium bald spots out for the price usually of one exo terra fake plant.

hardware stores sell light fixtures at more reasonable prices than exo-terra and zoo med. though "dome" fixtures are sometimes harder to find and in this case not always cheaper.

nursery raised plants are often cheaper than store shipped plants.

these are just a few examples along with tons more. just have to be creative and come to us for help if unsure of anything:)

Yeah, what Phil said. Do you have a spare wardrobe?

Edit- actually I have a matching pair now....what are you using your chest of drawers for? Clothes can go on the floor......

Thanks everyone! The dresser thing is really cool. I would try it but my dad says its "antique".
Bleh.
Any tutorials and custom cages? :)

you can get a cheap aquarium or anytype of glass tank from craigslist and do what i did.. i flipped it upright and pulled the glass from the top and added a mesh sliding door in the front.. or you can just buy a roll of mesh from homedepot for 8$ and it will be enough to build 1 big cage or several small ones.

a baby veiled will be no more than 100$ shipped

crickets and worms will cost you about 15$ a week depending on where you buy them.. or you can order in bulk which saves ton of money.

calcium,calcium+d3, and multiviatamin are about 8$ for each.

light, plants, dripper, mister, vines and etc will probably be around 150-200

for a complete setup it shouldnt cost more than 300$ but be ready to buy crickets, cricket feed, suppliments when you run out.

I also collect branches from outside, I got a lot of old dried out vines from a honeysuckle bush, but any branches will do, I buy a roll of flower arrangement wire (99cents at craft store) and use it to tie the branches together (you can also use zip ties) if you don't know if the branches are pesticide free just bake them or wash them with soap and water and let them dry in the sun. Good luck with your project.

see if your dad will sell the old crap antique..if it really is antique it could buy a cham set up and leave you with some cash..if its just old junk..it will prove to him its worth fixing and making it functional for the new age!
