Veiled Breeding Questions

Hello, I am not breeding my chams or anything, but I was just curious ask to how do you know when you should mate your chameleons?

Do you wait until you see eggs forming in the female? or is there a certain season or does it matter when you breed them?

They will both need to show signs of the breeding colors...... Which sometimes they are good at hiding it. You do not wait until the female has eggs in her or it will be to late. Also sometimes they will show the colors but you have to put the male into the cage and see if they are ready... if any of them shows signs of aggression yo uhave to seperate them immediatly... and try again....

Oh I see, what colors do males and females show?

also this is off topic but can chameleons hear? i am always afraid to make noise incase I wake mine up

From what people have posted in the forums... they cant hear that well. Dont be to worried about waking them up from a noise. Mine sleep through anything! XD Veiled females usually show more blue spots and blue lines on her casque and maybe some dark green spots when ready to mate... and males Usually show brighter colors and will normally bob his head when he is ready to mate. Like I said though if u stick em in the same cage and one is visibly looking stressed or angry they are not ready to mate.

They do not hear well at all, mine can sleep through anything. When females are ready to breed they will lighten up and show robin egg blue spots all over there body. Once you put them together the female should walk away from the male pretty much enticing him to breed. If she turns black with yellow and green spots she is not ready and usually is already gravid with eggs. Sometimes if you have an aggressive female she will reject the male, especially if your male is smaller or less aggressive. Its always best to breed your aggressive male with an aggressive female. Some females just won't breed unless there pushed around a bit...LOL
