Veiled Baskin SpotTemperature

Im kind of confused on this as Ive read a couple of articles some say from
90*-105* ( which seem to hot to me) others say from 85*-95*. They may be refering to diffrent age though. I would like to know whats the correct basking temperature for a juvenille (1month ++) Veiled chameleon. As my brother has his at 100* I keep telling him that, that might be too hot but he insist in keeping it at that because of the article he read.



Also does the baskin light need to be on if the temperature in the cage is 80* during the day with out the baskin light on??? The reason for this question is my brothers Veiled chameleon cage is next to mine which is empty at the time, but Iwill be getting mine Sambava next week and the cage is at 80* during the day???

not experienced with vields but i think 80 is too hot of an ambient temp. definately for a panther. they need to be able to warm up and cool down as needed. dont think its good for them to sit in an ambient temp thats hot enough for a basking spot depending on the age. how much does the temp drop at night?

For a juvenile the right temperature is a bit lower than that of an adult, around 29 º C would be sufficient

70-75 ambient and 83-88 bask. My bask is about 85ish

80 for a baby male veiled until 3 or 4 months old. Then you could go to 83 or 84. 8 months to 12 months 85 to 86 and for an adult male veiled 88 or 89.

For females 80 their entire life unless you are trying to breed when try to breed you could go to 84 or 85.

so noone else thinks an ambient temp of 80 is too hot? especially since mentioned, that 80 is suitable for a female her whole life?

id drop the room temp so the basking spot is actually hotter than the room temp.

The temps for your Sambava need to be different from the Veild. Veilds are hardier and can handle higher temps. If you can't acheive that with the cages side by side, it might be best to try to find another location.

80 for an ambient temp definitely sounds too hot to me.

Ok, as soon as I get home I will raise the basking light higher off the cage (Veiled cage)... And as far as my Sambava I will try and set up the basking light so that the temperature in the basking spot is in 75*-80*...
