Veiled at night

Hey guys :)
My chameleons new viv is in an area where he is able to see a big flashing sign and street lights at night, due to these distractions I believe my cham is not getting enough sleep and thus becoming stressed, would it be okay for me to cover over his viv with a thin material for instance a towel at night but still exposing the back side of the viv so he can respire easily but so that he is in total darkness and can sleep easily, or will this stress him out more or create other issues? please get back to me, Sam :)

He will be fine if you cover the front of the cage - they prefer total darkness to get a good night's sleep anyway. I used to drape a towel over Tommy's cage front in the evenings when I first got him. His viv is in the lounge and I was worried that the light from the telly would bother him. He sleeps right in the top corner anyway so he doesn't get disturbed.

I cover mine with a towel also in the section where he is sleeping because it is next to my computer. Also, if you do cover it and it is over the basking light, make sure you are up before the lights go on and remove the towel, blanket etc!!!!. The one morning I forgot and that basking light dome was HOT, and the towel was sitting on it HOT also! I thought OMG, I coulda started a fire.! I usually wake up in the middle of the night and remove when the house is dark.
