in the past 4 weeks he has hardly ate anything he has gone from about 10 locust a day to none, i have tried to change his diet with meal worms, crickets. I have also tried using smaller locusts but he has ate pretty much nothing for 3 weeks he does eat lettuce but not alot.
he is also sleeping durring the day.

but he is still active up and down the curtains.

really stressing me out any advice will be greatly appricated.

many thanks in advance ian

Hi and welcome to the forum. Could you copy ,paste and fill in form below so we can help you? Sleeping during the day is a sign that something is wrong.

Well first of all, welcome to the forums! :D
From what I read I see you don't know the sex of the chameleon. Is your chameleons stomach big? Does your chameleon look fat? Post some pictures up so I can see and the other members of this forum too. We could all probably help. I'm going to take a little guess here but I'm pretty sure your chameleon is a female and she is getting ready to lay eggs which means you need to set up a laying bin.

If this is the case, then make sure to watch this video. This is a great video on how to set up a laying bin https://www.chameleonforums.com/laying-bin-set-up-educational-video-77225/

Make sure to keep your chameleon hydrated too. Again, I'm taking a little guess here. I'm still new here but I am trying to help. Hope it all works out well for you.

you have a female yes she looks like she has eggs! Coco fiber is not ideal and probably will not work..

Yup, definitely a female chameleon. Looks like she has eggs in her stomach. Watch the laying bin video and it will tell you what you need to do. I know it's a little stressing but you'll be fine.

thanks

hi thanks for all the advice at the moment i have filled the bottom with the coco fibre as at the moment this is all i have and don't have a bin i will go out in the morning to buy one as i live in the uk and the shops are closed if coco fibre is no could could some one suggest what is more suitable i have just read sand.

again all advice is greatly appreciated ian

I don't keep females but I think coco fibre mixed with sand. Make it damp enough so if you big a tunnel it won't collapse.

Sand and soil mixed or just sand is what most people use. Organic soil so it has no fertilizers or anything in it.

hi sorry to keep bothering you, i have put her in a laying bucket but still no sign of digging she has not been to the toilet for a couple of days no surprise as she has not really ate or drank i was wondering how long can she go on for not eating or drinking. should i take her to the vets also does any one the procedure the vet will carry out if shes egg bound

thanks ian

Hello, welcome to the forum :) I don't know if you've noticed this caresheet before but I recommend it whenever someone uses the word Veiled :) - https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/chameleonsinmyhouse/395-veiled-chameleon-care-sheet.html
She can comfortably go a week not eating. Keep humidity up, she might drink in secret.
Have you seen her scratching around or being more exploratory recently? That is a good sign she needs to lay. If the vet has to do something I think it's usually an injection to stimulate natural laying. If needed they can even do cesarean. Keep calm for now :)
