varying care between species...

A panther compared to a veiled or a Jackson what are the pivotal differances in care in yalls opinion. Im getting a panther next month sometime so I'm just curious

Not much. I have all three and there really isn't anything significant that I for one that I don't do for the others. The only differences are the strength of the heat bulb and amount of misting, but those aren't huge differences in my opinion. I don't notice Panthers any more delicate than my others, as long as you have the set up the way they need it to be there really isn't any extra work to do.

Thanks then I'm on right track my new dude will be very thankful I've done so much research to provide what is the happy medium for most chams and i know only housing one will allow me to learn the individuals needs but i feel confident..

Temperature. Veiled tolerate somewhat higher highs and lower lows than panthers or jacksons

Supplementation. Montaine species (Jackson's included) require less supplementation than panthers or veileds.

There might not be a big difference between panthers and veileds temp and humidity wise. Although I am not sure about rain seasons between the two. However, those two compared to a jacksons there is a good difference. Even between the 3 species of jacksons there are differences that keepers of them see. In general, veileds and panthers are low land species and jacksons are montane species. They do not take the heat as well and need cooler temps, come from higher elevations, need higher humidity, less supplementation, etc. I tried keeping a few low land species while I was getting more into montanes. You might be able to come to meet in the middle with husbandry for some of these species but I find it hard to be able to provide both with optimal conditions in the same setting.

I keep my "warmer" chams in the heated reptile rooms and the montanes in my cooler bedroom. They go in the basement for the summer though.
