This is a situation where one of those fountains would come in handy. They are a mess for every day use but can be handy for vacation water supply.

Hmm, WE probably Can't-Do That Could The Dripper Drip Into a bowl and if they're thirsty enough they would drink it?
I don't think that would trigger their drinking response. They see the light sparkle on the droplets to stimulate drinking. I would give a long shower or misting before you leave and see them drink, leave a lot of fresh veges/fruits they love in the cage and try your dripper idea. None of these ides are optimal but are better than nothing. Shower again asap when you get home.

I think an automated misting system would by ideal. Is that not an option? When I go on short vacations, two-three days at most, my chameleons is set once I have fed her the day of our departure and her mister is turned on for the whole vacation, and then once I get back I feed her and she is totally unaffected. When I go on longer vacations, I fill the mister up all the way and then have someone come in and feed her if needed in the middle. I know chain pet stores like PetCo and PetSmart carry the cheaper misting systems, like the Monsoon, which I have used without any trouble. You could probably upgrade once you get back but I think it would suffice for the weekend, no?

I Have a dripper but as you see in the photo it's hanging so not sure if he will see it

I see. I would think the dripper would be enough as long as you have it on an obvious leaf. Or you can do what @JacksJill suggested and have someone fill the dripper and do a long mist on Saturday. That's probably your best and only option right now if you cannot buy anything.

I'd mist him before I leave, switch on dripper, mist him as soon as I get home. You're lucky it's just 3 days. In naturr it often enough doesn't rain for 3 days, I'm sure he'll live.
You really got to prepare for these situations way in advance.
I have a watertank for the mister that can last a week now, I usually just shorten misting durations to be sure it lasts and I trained the person that takes care of my cat to check the reptiles too.

You may have left for vacation already but I wouldn't worry about 2 mornings without being misted if he's in good health. They are sometimes found in very arid areas in their home range. Mist a little heavy before leaving. Water the plant so there is a bit extra humidity (more humidity equals less water loss from the chams body). On Monday and Tuesday, mist a little heavy so he has plenty of time to drink. Even without these precautions, he would likely be ok.
I agree with JacksJill... perfect time for a fountain... for those of you who have one in storage. Dont throw it away.

I am not sure if the fountain would have worked because when a chameleon get something new in its cage, it takes a while for the cham to get warmed up to it. Plus, drinking from collected water is against chameleon instinct, no? I do know that fountains are not healthy down the road either because of their likelihood to develop a bacterial growth, etc.
^^ right I don't recommend fountains for long term use but I think they are a good solution for 4-5 day trips then clean them up and back into storage they go. With summer coming this is a good time for people to be thinking about how they plan to care for their chams while away. Start looking for friends that can help out and saving for misting systems etc.
A lot of people use them with success, but eventually the luck runs out. Sometimes they don't even know why the cham died. The local pet store uses them. Irritates me but I have seen the alternative. There will be too many days that they don't get water at all so when I stop in,I clean the fountain (set it out to dry), fill up the dripper, mist the cage, feed them something other than crickets and generally check on their well being. Been a few times that I am just like, "I am taking this one home. Hope it lives."

I mean I think a fountain is much better than a water dish or something, and as long as it is kept clean then I guess its fine. The only reason why I never use them is because my chameleon would never drink from it. She would probably just look at me and think, "Uh, thanks for the pretty water feature?"

on vacation before i left i saw my chameleon drinking from the dripper everything good!
