whats every ones take on the exo terra repti glo 5.0 compact light?
is the zoo repti sun better or are they the same?..and is long tubes better then compact?and should any one use a compact light or is it a complete no no?

Boycott Compacts!!!!

A lot of bad things are now associated with the compact UV lights....It is my fondest wish to see those things taken off the market! I don't think you can go wrong with the Reptisun 5.0 or 10.0 tube lights. I use the 10.0 on my largest cages that house adult chams. The 5.0 seem to work well in most applications though and will likely suit your purposes just fine.

If you are using the reptisun 5.0 tube light, is that enough light for the plants? I"m wondering if the plants will die if they are in room that gets no outside light, or do they need to be next to a window?

I have tried both tube and compact.the tube was a 10.0 and looked alot more purple.and the compact looked like less light and less purple..now i don't know if the purple issue was because of the type of uvb light%.meaning 10.0 vs 5.0 or if it was a tube vs compact issue..the more purple light I'm assuming is because the of the 10.0.10.0 seems like to much..but I don't know for shure..and if I use a repti glo long tube is that good enough or do I need a repti sun long tube?thanx for the replies guys..

The article goes into a lot of what your asking. The general consensus is that you should stick to the tubes.

I like the Zoomed Reptisun 5.0 18". I use one over my 16"x16"x30" cage with a 4-5 month old male veiled inside. I have two reptisun 10.0 36" tubes over my 30"x30"x48" cage with a 5-6 month old male veiled inside.

Campacts are not perfected yet. The issue is that they create TOO much UV. Read the article and your answers will be found. That entire site will fill your brain up with lots of useful information about how reptiles use UV and what they need it for and why and everything.

I had the exo terra repti glo for the first week.now i have the repti sun 5.0
18 inch.and his eating and activity seems alittle better.thanx to you guys.the help was awsome thanks again
