Just out of curiosity, has anybody had a UVB light set up on a timer and it doesn't come on.. However as soon as I touch the bulb or even the tinfoil on top of it it comes to life.. The timer us fine as it goes off and comes on fine because his basking light is on it to which works fine... I just find it strange that the UVB light won't come on until I touch it???

its probably not the bulb, but the thing its housed in.
or you don thave it screwed in tight enough

Yes its your fixture. The things on the end that it connects to are called "tombstones". Either one is damaged, the contact is bent, or broken, or, you are not twisting the bulb enough to get a good fit. Try spinning it in the fixture, it should click firmly in eventually. If that doesnt fix, inspect the fixture. If its broken you can get the tombstones for cheep or free. Go to any electrician company, and talk to them. Most of the time they have spares laying all over the bed of there trucks that are just going to trash anyhow...
