have any of you found leds that are 300nm (uvb) all i can find are 380-400nm (uva) ???

iv read that if the cfl reptisun 5.0 is made in 01/09 or later that its safe has a new phosphors that are safe but weeker. is this true cuz a 18inch 5.0 is to big for my cage...

Howdy,

It's ok to have an 18" tube and fixture overhang your enclosure . Summoner is correct with his link about the Reptisun 5.0 CFLs. Just remember that the density of the CFL energy (all coiled-up) has to be taken into account along with the extra increased levels when put into a proper fixture. Having a Solarmeter 6.2 is helpful in setting the distance from the basking spot.

I'd skip the UVB LEDs until they've been proven to be safe and effective for reptile consumption . The topic has been poked into on the UVB Meter Owners site on Yahoo a few times in the past.
