UVB for babies

What's a safe uv level for babies and what's a good but reasonable priced uv meter I can purchase to measure? I was checking them on amazon and there were a few different kinds.

Thanks!

The only good reliable UVB meter are solarmeter 6.2 and 6.5....and they are NOT cheap. But well worth the money.

I second that solarmeter. I recently purchased the 6.2 and have been figuring a lot out about my uvb levels in my cages. But it is expensive, as is most quality electronic equipment.

I use an older Reptisun 5.0 strip bulb on babies. The newer ones seem to bother their eyes. I have the 6.2 meter and the older bulbs put put around 10.

Are you using yours through screen jann? I use a plastic tote with the top cut out and screen hot glued on the top.

If she was using a setup similar to mine it would have to be a little closer because of the screen. I believe my bulbs are 5.0 and around the 3 to 4 month range. I'm not saying my baby setup is perfect I'm just letting her know that different set up's call for different distance and type of lighting. Which is why I'm very glad to have purchased the 6.2, it helps me to get a better handle on my uvb levels.

Thanks jann for showing everyone your setup, you and many others help make this the great forum it is.

I have totes with the lids cut out of the top and screen hot glued. I do have 1 year old bulbs that I have kept that I could use. I will experiment.
