uvb distance

I redesigned my cage but didn't get a chance to snap pics yet
I'm just curious how far away should my 18" UVB light be away? Right now its about 4" from the top.of his casque at his highest point. (which isn't his normal basking spot but the closest he could get)... To close?

Not at all, mine sit about 2inches from their topline.
Even with all the daily sunshine they receive, I find them splayed across their vines enjoying the fake UV

Even with mine reading between 70 and 90 with my meter I have never had a problem.
I also know the Kammers use this distance which is certainly a definitive answer for me

I know the Kammers only get a read in the 40's.
I have 2 levels they can UV bask under and they go for the closer one.
