UV light questions

I just got a UV light last night cuz I wasn't aware that I needed one. Anyway I got a hood for my terrarium and a 5.0 UVB light. A few min after I turned it on Nemo climbed to the top of the cage, clung to the mesh just below the light and tried to push his face thru th mesh like he was trying to get thru to the light. He looked so frustrated and wouldn't stop unless I pulled him away. Iv had him since Sunday so could he be desperate for the UV he's not been getting or is he distressed by the light? I only left the light on while I was in the room so I could stop him when ever he tried again but I'm worried that's still not enough uv. How long should it be on daily?

I have my uv light on for a full 12 hours.
Maybe he just needs to get use to it being there. Animals don't like change, so they can act odd when there is something new around, but I wouldn't worry, I bet he pokes around in the UV for a bit, till he realizes he wants to bask and goes to the warm spot heh.

I've seen him bask in it a few times & today I haven't seen him try to get the light again so maybe he's used to it now
