Uthmoelleri/ Laterspinosis

Cool, If you are in Issaquah that means you can stop by my place after work and take more photos of montanes. :D

Interesting....:)
I am shooting with the XSi aswell. I am using the Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro, and the 430exII with the Lumiquest OmniBounce.

Would you be willing to post a few pictures of your rig? I would really like to see your diffuser.

The 100mm macro is a wonderful lens, and its tack sharp. I would like to invest in the 65mm Macro someday, 1~5x life size is pretty amazing and thats without tubes. Although tubes seam to be closer to my current budget we can all dream right?:)

I must also say I am a big fan of your work, and honestly your the reason I bought my camera...:) Browsing through your gallery got me interested in photography. Thanks for the inspiration, and where should I send the bill??:p

Hey Jay, Glad I could be an inspiration! I did the same thing, found a guys photos I liked I bought the same camera he had.

If I could make a suggestion to your gear (not sure if the 430 has manual settings) But the 580 is a dream. I love it! It has tons of power and manual control. I often use it as a master to control my 420. It's abilities exceed my skill. And it's price exceeds many budgets, I found mine for $275 on craigslist.

I'm not sure I can take a picture of my rig, I don't have another camera. If you want to know about the diffuser, it's not as good as an omni bounce. It's just a flat diffuse. I have a 7" one and a 13" one and they fasten with velcro.

Thanks mate,

I actually did not know you were shooting the XSi. It just proves the point that you don't need a 50D or a 5D to get breath taking shots.:)

I looked at the 580 and wish I would have bought it over the 430, since the 430 cannot be used as a master. The 430 does have a manual mode, so hooray for that!:)

I also would like to build a ring light using the 430 and a 10" heat lamp dome. I have seen several examples on POTN. Many have had great success with them, and they are much much cheaper then a true ring flash.

Well I have the kiddos out side today for some natural sun, gotta run, thanks again mate.:)

Check ebay for ring lights. I just saw a new one on the market that converts your speedlite into a ringflash. It actually look slike it could work ok and it's cheap. It tunnels the light focuses it down around your lens. I'm guessing you lose some brightness.

Un-frickin' believable shots. These photos make me fall in love with the chameleon all over again. They are absolutley stunning. You have an exceptional eye for composition. Nice work!

I have 4 chameleons, and have traded in all other hobbies, and my personal life. I work 5-6 days a week and not an hour that I am awake passes where I'm not doing somthing chameleon related.

Ask Laurie.... Everytime she calls I am either cleaning cages or feeding worms, or trimming plants...etc.

It's not hard to find the time, when you trade all your regular friends and family in for ones with googly eyes and shooting tongues...

Catherine, I hope you will contribute to the AdCham page on the Uthmoelleri, there is NOTHING about them.

Wish I had something to contribute....

Wish I had something to contribute AJA! They just live out their cute little lives pretty quietly here. When I actually get some eggs to hatch and have babies that grow up I will feel like I have more to offer. I think there are a few other people around the world that could offer something more than I can right now.
