my baby panther loves to go on the top of the cage, im worried about him getting burned, he never goes directly under the light. ive read about them not being able to tell they are being burnt on their underside. and moving the lights any further from the cage will make them much less affective. any thoughts?

why don't you build a little cage out of mesh around the lamp?

well its sitting on top of a mesh cage.

Is it sitting directly on the screen? If so, then use the clip and raise the light and then raise your branch accordingly so when he does want to bask, the temp will be right. If you raise the light off the screen it obviously is not going to be as hot.
