I'm pretty sure the plant is dying because it is getting too much water. between the mister and the dripper I'm thinking the soil is just staying too wet. Is there anyway that I can keep the soil dry, or dryer at least. I already went and bought a new one but I don't want this one to die 2

I read where a member did a "study" if i remember, he used a 50/50 mix of sand and dirt, and it worked well, with good drainage. cant find the blog.... but i remember it was a blog, over the course of several months.

Add some rocks to your soil to help the soil drain better and make sure theres plenty . of . holes on the bottem of pot. Not to many rocks though cause roots and the soil need some time to consume the water and nutrients

ya sand might work ,,,, i was thinking about putting some perlite or vermiculite in the bottom of the pot when i re pot them with the new soil because i already have both perlite or vermiculite already. What do you think about perlite or vermiculite????? Would eather work good?

Plant Drainage

Take the plant out of the pot it is in. Rub off all of the outside potting soil that will come off. Then add rocks at the bottom of the new container and surround the new plant with playground sand. This has worked for me...

Perlite will work better for increasing drainage than vermiculite. Vermiculite actually absorbs water (why its often used in egg incubation mediums). If you do add sand, make sure it is coarse sand, not fine. Fine will suffocate the roots and make the problem worse. You can enlarge the pot drain holes, add pebbles or pumice to the bottom, and even use some packing peanuts in the bottom of the pot all to speed up drainage.
