OK i posted yesterday on the problem with my young veild cham. about 10 min ago i noticed him crawling around on the bottom of the cage. this is the first time i noticed him ever do this. this is the first time he ever looked like this. is it a skin condition or bulb burn. im really nervous now and dont want to loose him. he is still strong and has great grip. hes not sleeping and hes alert. his eyes look good and im keeping him misted. i feel really horrible and hope hes not in pain.

i beleve we told you to change your bulb and you said you would today and to not have any heat at night

that is not a skin problem from what i know that looks like a burn

try getting a reptisun 5.0 bulb

I wouldn't worry to much about him crawling on the bottom of the cage.....if it's just once in a while. My veiled does that sometimes.

i did get a new lighting system today. actually i got the repti-glo 5.0 tube, it has the same uvb output i did not realize it until i got home though. should i let him heal before i turn the new uvb light on ?

Sorry to tell you thats a serious burn. I would keep the basking spot on the cool side for now like 80 or if the ambient temperature is above 80 I would go without a heat lamp until the burn heals. You have to watch your temps especially at the basking spot, The reason chameleons go to ground is because there uncomfortable or lay eggs, hunt, or see some place they rather be or in your case Too Hot. If you don't have an accurate thermometer you must get one. A 5.0 will not burn your chameleon.

as of yesterday the only two lights on there was a 60 watt light bulb and the (bad) reptisun 5.0 bulb ( not linier, or cfl the other one. ) i heard it was bad after i bought it i was going to replace it when his new cage came in because i didnt want him going without his uvb light. i guess it was too late though.
