I'm finally getting out of the army and I have a young veiled. I'm in Washington state right now and will be driving across country back home to the ny/ct area. I asked jays vet and he had no ideas. I'm hoping someone here will give me a tip. His current cage is small enough to fit in my car, I'm worried about lighting water and stress. :(:(

he can go a few days without a basking and uvb bulbs.
jsut make sure your car stays warm enough.

as for water, get a hand mister and when you stop to rest, use the bathroom, eat, etc. just spray the cage down. maybe place a towl underneath and behind the cage.

the stress shouldnt be too bad. if he does get stressed, you can try putting a towel over his cage and he will sleep the whole time.

Thanks cami! I'm just worried about the families new addition! I'll deffinetly keep the temp up in my car, it's a big move with a big animal family so I'm doing a lot of worrying haha. My girlfriend is a vet tech so I'm not horribly worried, just concerned for the little guy. Haha on the funny side he gave the exotics vet a run for his money yesterday he's a cranky little guy if I'm not the one touching him(not the he's handled much)!:D

No problem!
I was worried moving my guy 3 hours to a new place.. can only imagine your stress.
but i had the big animal family too.
3 cats, 1 dog (still a puppy) 1 chameleon, 1 ferret, 75 gallon freshwater fish tank.

now i have 3 chameleons, and thats only going to grow.
as i add a jackson, panther, and lots and lots of babies.

You can always have someone keep your chameleon for a few days and then ship him to you once you're all settled in. That is the easiest and least stressful thing you can do. Good luck!

Haha that sounds like our family! We have 2 dogs, a boston and a boxer mix, 2 ferrets(Mia and Vincent) and of course our newest addition Jay! So it's gonna be interesting to say the least!

I was thinking about having him shipped but there is not a single person here that I would trust him with. Bunch of army guys with no sence of caring lol!

Well if you drive near Montana I can keep his for a while. However given temps here and where you are headed, you might be a while getting him back. I sold a adult cham that has been waiting shipment to New York, the breeder will let me know when he feels it is warm enough to ship.

I drove from Southern California and moved to Montana with 2 dog s, several bearded dragons, and a bunch of chams in the back of my yukon. All made it fine. Getting them into motels was sometimes fun.

Haha my girlfriend has a thing with this pone chain of motels and they are pet friendly. Super8 I believe. It nice to hear that a move like this can be done. Takes some stress off of me! As soon as I get to my new place I'm thinking of getting anothe cham already. But it wil be quite warmer when that time comes, maybe a girlfriend for him.

I will deffinetly take some trip pictures! I'm gonna take some pics today of him, I haven't in a few days

I totally agree. As long as you keep the car warm he should be fine. :)
