UGH! Mosquitoes!

Long story short, I need a natural way of killing mosquitoes without upsetting the reptiles.

Long story not short, my neighbors have a kid who likes to play with the hose.
This has resulted in them having various pools of standing water outside (including one bucket filled with various shades of green (algae?) that I can see when I walk by their house).
There really isn't any way I can ask them to dump the water, they are a "sensitive" sort.

I have been finding anywhere close to 5-20 mosquitoes in my room every night and they have been buzzing in my ear and waking me up.
I'm not sure if they are attracted to my reptiles, either... does anyone know if mosquitoes like lizard blood? LOL

I have looked everywhere in my room to see if there is an alternate source but can not find any, though I keep looking.
I have begun to close the window in my room (though it is screened) at night.. but in the day when the swamp cooler is running it has to be open.

So far in typing this message I have smashed 3 mosquitoes. I am crying on the inside. p)

Release a few tree frogs in your room. That should do the trick.

Other than that, wipe the room floor with citronella oil/water. Its not harmful to reptiles but could affect the feeders so make sure you place them away for a while until the oil/water evaporates. It smells awesome and is very effective.

You can do that on carpet? Can you get this at walmart?

Go spend a few days in Florida and you won't even notice 5-20 skeeters LOL! I would only pray to see that many skeeters in a night!

You can also take a sprayer and mix a little bit of mineral oil and mix it with water and spray it over the buckets of water or areas where you could get accumulation of water. This will kill the pupae.

Thanks Todd, I have some unused mineral oil.. and a long nozzle on a weed sprayer.

Haha in Arizona one is too many unless it's monsoon season - that's not for another few weeks!
