Heya guys I'm new to this whole chammy thing, I've been around reptiles for a while an have run into chameleons am really interested in them. I am researching them an am wonderin what kind of chameleons are the right choice? I love these guys an rely want one so I am asking what you guys think for a first time Cham an about them personally?!

You have a difficult choice, but Panthers, Veileds and Jacksons are most often recommended for a first Cham...... I've only ever kept Veiled Chams and they've all been very tolerant of me (though my current female is very shy). They are quite a time consuming commitment even for reptiles....misting/ gutloading/ vitamin supplements etc. are more important than for most......

Every Cham requires a nice setup,large screen cage, UVB, Basking, plenty of Plants, Vines Etc.. and it is always important to do as much homework and preparation as possible before purchasing and bringing a chameleon into the family. Thus Welcome to the Forum, you have come to the right place.
A favorite among beginner Chameleon owners is the Veiled or Panther chameleon. Being as Veiled's tend to be less expensive, a beginner should consider a Veiled first, a Panther can cost upwards to $400 as opposed to a Veiled ranging in the 50-$100 market. Both are hardy chameleons whom with proper care and respect can become very comfortable with there owners.
No matter what kind of chameleon you get, it is a wonderful pleasure having them in your home and a part of the family.

unless you get pygmys. those are ok to keep and a tank style and you can even keep them together. DO NOT do that with other species. just piggletts. also large tanks can house many but havieng one male is reccomended unless your tank is really big with lots of girls and pothos ect. goodluck choseing!

panther prices can be crazy. initially i was set on a jacksons but the colors were just.. more eye catching.. then after thinkin about it i figured..if im going to buy all this stuff i might as well get a cham im going to like for a long time so its not that much extra in the long run for sure.
whichever you choose just make sure you look into that specific species needs and dont just go with whatever random info you read (for example, what works for a panther will likely not work out so great for a jacksons and so on)
they are all awesome in their own ways. consider your space and room temps and add that into the equation as well. (if you only have space for a small cage, youll want a smaller chameleon - etc)
