turtles

Would anyone recommend a few good websites and/or books regarding land tortoise / box turtles? A local pet shop (a half decent one) has several turtles and I have become fasinated. might like one. BUT, I know NOTHING about turtles. Must understand what Im getting into before I even think about it! Space needed, feeding, health issues, do they stink, heat, humidity, solitary or groups, friendly or watch your fingers, how long they live, etc

I dont know really...Definately a land turtle, not an aquatic.
What caught my eye in the petshop were two: A Russian Tortoise and A Painted Box Turtle.

I have kept turtles/tortoises for over 9 years now. I have hatched 3 toeds and snapping turtles so far.

ive had three toeds since as long as i can remember. these guys are so nice and will pretty much eat anything. mango seems to always be a favorite... one named norman in particular lets me pet its head and seems to lean into it like a dog. its hilarious. definitely check out turtle puddle. i would totally recommend these guys if you like them. such great personalities!!! can definitely live together also...just be sure theres enough space like 4 sq. feet per adult or so....
