Hi,
We have a male panther chameleon who is now about 4 years old. Unfortunately he could not move with us when my partner and I moved out of his parents into our own (very tiny!) flat so he has stayed with my partners mum. We do see him every few weeks and she is great with his care - this is not the only reptile there and they have owned many in the past.
He has a big mesh cage (4ft tall by 2ft wide and deep) and has a 100W heat bulb and a 5.0 reptisun UV light.
He is sprayed at least twice a day and is offered water by hand through a syringe dripping which he loves and he is fed on gut loaded locusts every few days and the occasional wax worm as a trat and to ensure he gets his vitamin powder as it often appears to come off the locusts before he gets them!
A couple of months ago we noticed just one scale on the very end of his nose had turned grey, as he is a rather clumsy cham anyway (got him from a breeder we later found out was somewhat dodgy so think he may have been fed / housed incorrectly as a juvenile) we thought he must have just bumped it and decided to keep an eye on it. However the patch has continued to grow in size, and in the last week or two it has grown rapidly into a grey flaky looking lump which to me looks to be some kind of tumor? When I visited him yesterday he was shedding, most of his body was coming away fine but around the edge of this lump it was weeping what looked like blood
I was so upset to see him looking like it must hurt so much. He is still acting his normal self - running to see us and come out when we open the door to be held, and eating and drinking well but I can't see how this won't be affecting him in some way?
I've tried to include the picture I asked his mum to send earlier so I hope it works, its not the greatest photo though - sorry!
Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer some help as to what this may be and if there are any home remedies we can try or if this is just a vets case.
Steph
