My new male amiblobe panther (3.5 months old) will arrive at my door tomorrow morning!

Exciting.. I know.

I was wondering what are some important tips for this first week I have him. I know not to even try handling him. But what all can I do to reduce his stress and make sure he stays healthy? My cage is well off the floor and he has plenty of foilage to hide in. This is my first cham and I want everything to go well. Please give me LOTS of feedback. Also, I'll be sure to post some pics of the new little critter as soon as he's done freaking out from the long and bumpy ride.

What insect/s, and size, do you have on hand for feeding your new arrival?

The first thing I always do after getting a shipped chameleon is heavily spray the entire enclosure. My experience is that the trip usually makes them thirsty. Aside from quickly inspecting him after he is removed from the box, I would just set him up and let him get used to his new enclosure.

Alrighty, I'll make sure its nice and moist for the new man. And I have about 40 1/8"-1/4" crickets gut loading as we speak. Had them since last night. They are eating flukers hi cal cricket diet, orange cricket cubes, and a mixture of kale, mustard greens, and shredded carrots. (only a little bit, the containter is not overflowing with food or anything.)

Thanks for the input, please send more!

I just want to know how much sleep you got last night? I remember the night before I receiving my first poison dart frogs. I think I only got 2 hours of sleep. That morning I checked the FedEx website 1000 times between 8:00am and 10:30am to "make sure" they were coming. Every noise the dogs made, I ran to the door to see if the delivery guy was there. They finally arrived a few minutes before I had to leave at 11:00am.

yeah, i woke up every couple of hours from anxiety i guess. Pretty much no useful sleep. I have 4 dogs that bark whenever birds are in the bushes outside the window so I keep getting falsely alarmed. And yeah, I've refreshed this fedex website about 1,002 times. So I think I'm feeling ya. My little guy is at the "destination sorting location" getting jostled about. I hope he gets here ok.

When I got mine, I unpacked him, put him in his Reptarium, made sure he had food and drink - and then left for work. It was kind of hard to leave, but I think it was good for him to have a chance to explore and settle in without being surreptitiously watched. When I got home, he was well-hidden in the vines at the top of the cage.
I don't know if it's the same in Texas as in Michigan - I find this time of year, the two chameleons I've had have both been very regular in becoming active maybe an hour after sunrise, and settling down for the night an hour to an hour and a half before sunset. This caused some consternation with my first chameleon, as he was sitting in one spot when I left for work in the morning, and sitting in the same spot when I cam home in the evening; it wasn't until I was home all day on a weekend that I saw he was quite active between the hours of 9 and 3. The basking/UVB light didn't fool him - he was irrevocably tied to what was going on outside.

Well I have the cage comepletely ready for him, all warmed up and moist. Now its the waiting game.. I'll be sure to post whenever he gets here. I'm going to try to take a pic or a video or something. This is so exciting. I've been prepairing for this chameleon for over a month! And still I have almost nothing accomplished. hah. Should i dust his crickets today? Or give him a day off?

so what did you get from vince? i buy almost all my panthers from him they are both very good o deal with:D

He just arrived! And in perfect condition! I took a nice vid that I'll edit and post on here later today. He's already drinking and chilling in his ficus. He's absolutely gorgeous! I'm so happy right now. I'm reading the manual screameleons sent with him. He's only 2 inches long!

Awww what a cutie. So is it warm enough there to be in tank tops? I'm jealous. I am hugging the space heater right now because both house heaters can't keep me warm.
