Adam these are the real T. Rudis.. the so called red-rudis as you can see in the pics of the adult female!!

They are neither rudis nor sternfeldi . So far they are a described species from Tanzania, sometimes they were exported as sternfeldis or as rudis. The real rudis just live Uganda at very high ranges.

No, they are just called red rudis. Possibly because the sternfeldis were often called rudis... The systematic isn't here very up to date. It's possible to cross red rudis with the normal sternfeldis in both directions but the juveniles are unfertile

These animals appear to be distinct from both T. sternfeldi and T. rudis but are quite similar to both species. At the moment, they are undescribed. The "cf." in the latin name indicates that these currently undescribed animals are similar to T. rudis (could also be written as "T. cf. sternfeldi" to indicate their similarity to T. sternfeldi) but not the same species. Typically these animals are referred to as "Red Rudis", "Jeweled Rudis" or "T. cf. rudis" for the same reason everyone calls T. sternfeldi "Rudis Chameleons". Due to their locality (Tanzania) and some of their morphological characters that are closer to T. sternfeldi then T. rudis, they would most accurately be called T. cf. sternfeldi but T. cf. rudis is not completely inaccurate either and I am guilty of referring to them by this latter name as well.

I keep adults single in 40x40x60 cm big enclosures. Those are typically chameleon glass enclosures
