i got my jackson about a month and a half ago. i got strictly from a reptile shop. when sold to me, the owner recommended that i give him the zoo med repti calcium without D-3 5 days out of the week, the other two days zoo med reptivite with D-3. ive been powdering every single feeder insect on this recommended regiment. after doing some more looking i find out that my regiment is most likely going to end in a disasterous way. Q: how many times a month should i give him multivitamin with d3 and how many times a week should i give him the calcium. and how many feeder insects should i coat with each? looking to correct this regiment ASAP

In my opinion if you can get your Jackson's outside in some sunlight that is the best thing you can do for them. In the Winter when ever the sun's out and temps are in the high 60's I put them out. Just make sure they have a place to get out of the sun and use a dripper that will last a while. I lightly dust ( not coat) crickets maybe twice a week with calcium with no d3. If my Jackson's are getting out for a few hours during the week I don't dust with calcium with d3. I dust with a muti vitamin twice a month.

I also try to vary my feeders as much as possible. They get silkworms, hornworms, mantis, flies, roaches, superworms and what ever else I have. I try to feed them something different every day. The roaches, crickets and supers are gut loaded.

Hope this helps.

thanks for the input, i currently have no outdoor enclosure set up and of course try to keep handling to a minimum. when i take him out i go outside but its for ten minutes tops. im currently using multivitamin with d3. im going to start giving him this about twice a month instead of twice a week. with that being said, should i get a seperate multivitamin supplement without the d3 to give him on the more regular basis? I will also be cutting his calcium intake down to twice a week now instead and see how it goes. any input on some of the first signs your cham will show if he is being over supplemented? - thanks again

Here are all the threads that pertain to my miss-supplementation problem I mentioned:

They may provide a little insight.

As Xanthoman said, they can seem fine one day, and the next there is just something wrong. Ive heard many people say this about many chameleon issues. They tend to hide illness if at all possible it would seem.
