transleuscent veiled infertility?

hi,
bred a normal male with two female trans..... all infertile eggs. Any ideas as to why they were all infertile. Is there anything going on with the genetics in the trans line that influences infertility?

Not to my knowledge, but I do know that the only way you are going to get any trans. babies (low-end or high-end) is to breed at least a low-end trans. male with at least a low-end trans. female. I am not AS experienced with the translucents as some, but perhaps it has something to do with the translucent gene. This might be a question for Mike (FLChams) or Brad Ramsey.

I don't have any experience with the transleuscents but do have a lot of experience with veiled breeding. The timing of the first breeding can be very tricky and it's not unusual for a girl's first clutch to be infertile even if she has been bred. I've had it happen several times over the years with veiled chams. Is this their first clutch?

My pair of trannies must have had great timing then. They only bred once and I have 23 brand new tranny babies (just a few days old).

This is true - not ALL the eggs my female laid were fertile. She laid 52, but 29 of them molded right away so they were infertile. Of the 23 left, 21 of them hatched (14 days apart) and there are still 2 cooking but looking like they are getting ready to start sweating.

I've already "let" you - you guys just seem to think you have to blow through town like a whirlwind. (j/k) It is I who was VERY tempted to take home many things from your place last Fall!! My cham room(s) isn't nearly as fun as yours.

Thanks!! Nope, I haven't posted a picture of them yet. Unfortunately, I would need to borrow someone's cool camera that takes really good close-ups as mine doesn't do that really well. They are, for the most part, just like all veiled babies, except it's like opening a tiny present with each one because you don't know where the translucent (or how much) will show up. I have (so far) ended up with 4 high-ends, which is good considering both of the parents were low-end. Those 4, though, are REALLY pretty, with most of their heads being translucent. The one thing that is interesting with these high-ends, is that a couple of them have half of the tail being translucent, which I have never seen before, even with any of Mike's.
