So I was about to buy walking stick insects and the person who selling them has mantis aswell. she tried to feed them to the mantis but wouldnt eat them. My question is how lickely is that the walking stick insects would contain parasites due transcontaminations. such as horse hair worm or others?

I haven't heard or done reading about Walking Sticks transmitting parasites to chameleons. Although transmitting parasites from Walking Stick to Chameleons is theoretically possible.

If you are concerned I would captive breed Walking Sticks and move newborn Walking Sticks to another grow out enclosure. That should limit some of the risks.

thank you, most concern about the praying manti passing it to the wlking sticks. When handling animal people are not the most carfull, and can go from an animal to an other with proper cleaning. and thus contaminating the other animals.

Insect to insect transmission is possible if the same species of hair worm infects both species of insect. Sorry, I don’t know if the worms are species specific like some other parasites.
I haven’t seen horse hair worms infect reptiles but that isn’t your concern at the moment. Either way they do give me the ick.

How would a Preying Mantis pass parasites to the Walking Sticks? The Walking Sticks are not going to eat the Preying Mantis. That should not be an issue.

Maybe if the two species were kept in the same terrarium through feces.
