I know this is a forum devoted to chameleons but since everyone on here is a reptile lover I thought that I would mention an animal that I have recently discovered that many others have probably heard of. The FIJI BANDED IGUANA! It is awesome looking and from what I have seen on classifieds in Europe, they make Callumma Parsonii look inexpensive. Tell me what all of you think about them.

From what I have found so far they are mostly found in Europe. Occasionally one can find a breeding project within the states but chances are they will sell before you know about it because their are only like six eggs in a clutch. I have no idea what the average hatch rate is either. I wouldn't mind having one though. They have the body of an iguana but from the pictures their skin looks soft like that of a snake. Just thought that I would bring these beautys to the fore front.

Those are a very interesting species! They look like a very pretty iguana, anole, frilled neck lizard and gecko cross. General shape of an iguana, head and neck of an anole, frill of a frilled neck, and kind of cute little gecko paws.

Ha Ha!
All Fiji Banded Iguanas, regardless of origin, are property of the government (king) of Fiji.
Any breeding projects in the states are limited to zoos with the proper paper work and all animals are property of the king of Fiji.

They are in great danger of extinction and no animals will be available to private parties in Europe or otherwise without proper authority from the government of Fiji, and only in a conservation breeding program.

They are beautiful animals!

They are really amazing lizards. We talked about them in my ecology and conservation of wildlife class last week and apparently they are highly regarded in the local culture (almost religous). And the king is supposed to know when every baby is hatched and if one passes away. Pretty crazy.
