I took my 2 month old baby veiled cham to the doctor today for a RI. they gave him fluids, vitamin A/D/E injection and Vibramycin injection.....when i got home he seemed to be even worse..he has mucous coming out of his nose and it looks like sticky stuff between his jaw when he open his mouth to breath and now he is making this moaning sound when he gasps ....i dont know what to do help please!...also his skin is sticky and wet where he got the injections.

Hi there, sorry to hear about your little one. im not sure but that sounds a bit to small for injections. Does the vet specialize in reptiles/chameleons. The wet sticky skin might be some spilled fluid from the needle. Make sure you keep the temperatures at optimum level. Does his/her enclosure have sufficient ventilation ? If you could fill out the How to Ask for Help form it will help us help you more.

Not familiar with vibramycin, but it looks like it is an antibiotic. Did the vet give you a schedule to continue the treatment/injections? To my knowledge, all antibiotics require continued dosage and take a while to work, so you may not see an improvement at first. How did he decide on that antibiotic? Did he do a culture and sensitivity test, or was it just a best guess?

If he is having trouble breathing you can give him a warm mist from an ultrasonic humidifier or you can try putting him in the shower on a branch/plant and letting the mist bounce off the walls on to him.

he is looking a little better now, the gross skin has gone and now there is just a black spot where he got the injections, he will need another injection in a week. but he seems to be looking a little better iguess
