Too old to attempt handling?.....

I just wondered if a cham reaches a certain age, would it be a pointless exercise going through food association etc... to make handling less stressful?

I realise its easier if you start when they are young, but I was hoping to attempt taming Simba again (His last handling episode was for vet trips and to administer eye drops)

Could he be convinced to tolerate handling through food association etc... or is the damage done and imprinted?

He is now 14months old.

Has anyone successfully managed to tame an older cham?

I would say to try it. Long term memory can not be that good- I can't remember what I had for breakfast and now that he is "old" maybe he has this problem too!

Since he has not been bothered and sees you more as not a threat just hat thing- give it a whirl can not be any worse and maybe make things easier for you :)

You can always teach and old dog new tricks! :) I had an Ambilobe who was a jerk all his life but started to get more tolerant as he passed a year and a half of age.

Brilliant.

Thanks for the feedback all ;)

Going to take it slow, with feeders, and hopefully he will learn to tolerate it.

I'll know if I'm moving to fast with him, then I'll rewind a bit n try again.

Like I say, just want it be less stressful for him, as I'm hoping we get a nice Summer in the UK this year, n if we do, would like to put him outside without him freaking out.

Thanks again.

Will keep you posted x
