Too much water at bottom of cage

I have a 5-6 month panther (nosy be) male he is in a 2'x2'x4' screen cage. I have a mist king with 2 nozles. I mist 5 times a day for about 2min and then 4min in the middle of the day. My problem is too much water sitting at the bottom. I need a good simple drainage system that will look good because the cage is in the bedroom and don't like things looking bad, I know OCD.

The bottom is the white removable plastic kind. Are there any trays I can buy that are 24"x24"? I was thinking of something to lift the cage and drill small holes in the bottom and slide a tray underneath so I can dump water. Any help from you guys would be great. I know there is a simple solution to this problem but I can't seem to come up with something that I like.

there are alot of threads on drainage. i know its not the easiest and fastest solution. but i built a tray out of plexy glass and the bottom pvc board the cages come with cost me about $8 and about an hour of my time. you can drill a whole in the back and run a hose. if not DIY the site sponsor sells the trays for the cages. you can modify that.

I'd like to chime in that there's also water trays you can place in the bottom of the cage. You can either try and let the water evaporate, or you can drill a hole in a corner and let it drain that way. Or you can be like me and just dump it every so often. :)

Thanks LLLreptile, i just ordered the drip tray from you! I hope it fits just the same as the pic... Im sure the cages 24x24x48 from FL chams are the same thing as yours?

On another note after reading a Mist King thread I just ordered the basic mist king with the new free rain option...I figured this with the drip tray will be nice and save me the trouble of hand misting. Bindi is going to be so happy!

I have a large plant in my terrarium with a large pot, it there an easy way to empty the tray? i was just thinking every so often i would lift the plant and attempt to remove the tray and dump it. only after i notice if it it getting full or old/moldy?

thanks!

I'm sure the Florida Cham cages are similar enough for the trays to work, they also fit fine in the ZooMed and PennPlax brand screen cages.

Lifting the plant and pulling out the tray is probably the easiest way to get around that, short of the whole drilling a hole in the bottom thing. If it gets funky, you can always add a little bleach and let it set for a while, then rinse it off and put it back in. It's made out of the same material as that simple flat piece in the bottom, it's just in a design that can hold water easily.

Glad that I was able to help you out! :)

Perfect, thanks Jen. sounds good and I think it looks nice raising the tank a bit with a black frame. Ill keep you site in mind for future needs!:)

I did what Solid Snake did and went to Lowes and bought a new metal shelve unit and drilled holes in the bottom of the cage floor and put a bin underneath it and it works great. Water is not a problem anymore!

Just wanted to thank everyone on here that offers up help, great forum and great people.
