Too much, Too late

Unfortunatly we lost the battle with gonzo today. I think we done too much too late and the stress of it all resulted in this sad ending for him. I wish i had never taken him to the usless vet or pet shop. he was healthy just small before the vet told us to force feed him this critical care stuff which he hated. I think it was just to much stress because even this morning he was ok but after i gave him the stuff he just sat gawping at me angry, then about an hour later he was gone.

People please if you get a chameleon make sure you have a vet and good knowlege of what u are doing.

Thanks you guys for all your help.

This has become a very sad weekend. :( My thoughts are with you. We love these beautiful jewels so much. It's heartbreaking when we lose them. Rest in peace little Gonzo.

Thanks guys. When i was in a pet shop in Aberdeen "reptiles in the green" yesterday the lady reckoned that it was parasites and that's why he has never grown since we got him. she gave us stuff to worm him with but it was obviously too late.

Whilst we were there we got this little guy( i say little but he is bigger than gonzo was but a year younger), any way its been that long since i have actually seen a normal chameleon. i didnt realise how ill gonzo looked. I was wondering if you guys could tell me if he looks good. i Thought his eyes were a bit bulgy but again i havent seen a well chameleon for ages.

Thanks

my camera battery is dead just now so had to use my phone which with the flash is to bright. i hope its just bad light in the photo. i dont seem to be having much luck chameleon wise. ill get new pics asap

im at the point i just want to pull my hair out and give up on chameleons. i phoned the pet shop ar requested to let them know how our new little guy is getting on and i also told them what his eyes are like and she said take him to the vet.
Ive only had him 24 hours. Im in there with you guys and i dont want to support this place in selling unhealthy reptiles.
I think sadly its going to be a trip back to the pet shop with him.
I paid for a healthy chameleon.
Not what i got and not what i need after my loss this weekend. i really am giving it up now. thanks for all you help.

Those eyes definitely aren't normal . Keeping chameleons is a serious challenge and its not for the weak hearted, I hope you will be able to get over your frustrations and realize that you are not to blame for problems caused by pet stores.

omfg.......what happened to cause the eyes to become like that!?!? I've never seen a cham with eyes protruding that much @_@

Did you ever find an experienced chameleon vet? This guy is in need of one ASAP. There's something wrong with his eyes. Eye problems usually lead to a more serious health problem.

i have found a very good vet about 70- miles away from me and i am awaiting a phone call from her. i dont know whats happened to him to make his eyes like what they are. i only noticed one in the pet shop and thought he was doing the crazy thing with his tounge and licking his eye but when i got him home i noticed it on the other side too. he hasnt been moving much but i just put that down to him being in a strange place. My choice now has to be do i take him to the vet pay the bill and face probably loosing yet another cham or take him back to the pet shop and let them deal with him as ive only had him 48 hours. they need to know its not ok to sell chameleons like this. i personally think they should have to deal with the vets bill for this one. poor little guy

i just noticed that he seems to be making hissing noises. so i went over to look and he was taking some very big breaths out.
i had a knock on my door and came back in 10 minutes later and he was taking his last breaths

im speachless..........
I know hes only has mintutes left

2 in 2 days

gutted angry frustrated.

Feel sorry for who i speak to at the reptile shop tomorrow

That's awful!!!! I am so sorry for you. Pet Shops are not a very good place to buy a chameleon. Try to find a breeder next time. Where do you live?

i live in elgin, Scotland. The lady gets her chameleons from her friend who is a breeder and its purly just a reptile store that she has opened by her self. this is so surreal right now. maybe in just meant to not have chamelens. such a shame they are beatiful little things

kimmun, do not blame yourself one little bit for this chameleon's death. You bascially bought an animal that was already dead when he left the store. That shop should either be giving you an in house credit or a refund. If they start giving you flak, then contact your Better Business Bureau (I don't know what they have over there...but the equivlent).

Your heart is larger than your brain, there is no crime in that. However, it is a crime to even THINK of selling a creature that is that sick.

Now you know, lesson learned, try again. You didn't kill that chameleon.
