Too Hot?

Hey Forum,
I still have not gotten my Cham yet but i had a question! The room I plan on keeping my cham in gets pretty warm, probably more at night since the temps outside drops. With the heat in the room being that warm (Probably reaching close to 89-92 degrees) do I still need a basking light? Also I know the temps should drop about 10 degrees, whats a good way to get my room cooler? I have a ceiling fan but I dont think that would cool off the cham?
Thanks ahead!

Turn your heat down! duh. lol.
and how can you stand your room that hot at night.

lol. Thats really warm! Is it that warm because of outside temp, or thats with the heat on?

It's natural to have your Cham experience a temp drop at night. My Chams usually sleep in the mid 60's in winter, and in the low 70's in the summer with the AC on.

he said 'more at night since the temps outside drops'
that implies to me its froms his heat!

. I like to be warm, but that crazy to sleep at 90*. It don't help that i can't sleep without a blanket either.. I'd roast!

To the OP, you might need to break out your long PJs and make that sacrifice for your Cham.

lmaoo@ exposed!! Thats exactly the word to discribe it too. lol

Well the room is upstairs and the stat' is down stairs. Down stairs stays cold and up stairs warm or hot! My issue is obviously my thermostat but with those temps do i need a basking light or would the heat in the room alone be ok

I would possibly still use a basking light, but a low wattage one.

Is those little "power save" bulbs ok, you know the one with the twisted look. I think they are 19 watts or something? The 40 watt bulb measures 99 and up!

I dont think so. I dont think they give off enough heat. you can get a clear housebulb for cheap.

you shouldn't need a "basking" light. Since the heat will keep their body temp up to help digestion. But it's always good to have a light source (Chams seem to associate light with heat. Don't know how that would affect them if taken away).

Also, thats fine for daytime. But what are you going to do at night. They should not be kept that warm at night. It's natural for them to experience a temp drop at night.

I have a patio door that I can open but probably wouldnt since I wont be there from 8 to 6. Thanks for all the responses! I love this site and im confident I will have alot of help when I FINALLY get my Cham!
