Too hot?

well as most of you know i keep my oustalet outside and he is usually fine, my only problem is that on especially hot days toward the middle of the day he chills at the bottom of his cage, i have braches and stuff down there for him, ive checked the temp and its pretty cool down there, like the highest i would say is 80 degrees F. today it was 95 degrees so i sprayed him about five times, its usually been overcast and rainy lately but today was an acception, i just want to know what you guys think, i dont think its much of a problem because hes just thermoregulating and when the sun starts to set or when it gets overcast outside he returns back to the top, this IS ok right??

Sounds like normal behavior I keep half the top covered to provide shade so they don't have to go to the floor to find relief.

this behavor sounds normal.

a good idea though is to maybe try to provide some shade for him/her.
try hanging a small ficus near the top so that it's branches and leaves are at the inside-top of the cage bent over to create some shade.
you could also put a large plant next to his cage and let it provide some shade.

shade is the key here, and is why he is going down to the bottom under the plants.

this is a very ugly pic but its all i have for now till i get my camera back, the outlines around the plants are how much they have grown, and i have another small pothos planted inside my ficus plant and then i have a hanging one on the side of his cage that gets hit by the sun the hottest part of the day.

I would still try to cover the top...maybe half in the shade.
still give him a good basking spot, but then cover the rest up.

use that pothos that is already outside and put it on top of the cage by the wall in the corner...should help offer some shade near the top.
then use another pothos next to it to offer more shade.

you can use an old tarp or sheet of plastic to cover the top better...just half of the top.

That boy is enjoying life!!!! He has plenty of shade spots in the cage. I want to give both of mine some more height and thought about the reptariums but. I watched a forum members cham for a week last summer and he brought his reptarium setup over. I noticed it got much hotter in it than it did in any of my "custom" cages. I think I am just going to build them new ones. Im sure you have a good feel for what weather is acceptable for him in his reptarium since you have had him out for 2 months. I thought I would mention it though;)

Thanks! i think that i may be adding in a fern or some small bushy plant because there is one barren area in the left corner of his cage.
