Plants - pothos

Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - Veiled, female, two weeks old. 1 week
Handling - every other day
Feeding - 1 week old crickets with calcium D3 and vitamin supp. (8 crickets a day)
Supplements - calcium d3 and multivitamin.
Watering - Hand spray, 3 times a day. Never see her drink
Fecal Description - fecal seems to be fine
History - brand new so no history
Current Problem -
1. Females tongue does not seem to catch the pray. I have watched her shoot tongue at crickets but it does not seem to stick.

2. She also have stress bars on during the day. Pretty cool design but something is bothering her.

She is pooping but that tongue issue is a bit strange to me. My other baby female eats like crazy.

They are separated btw

hmmm it seems she eats fruit flies just fine! lol damn chameleons..

the cricket thing is still weird though

So, she is she actually hitting the prey and yet it's not being retracted with the tongue to her mouth? or is she missing?

Stress bars could be she is bothered by the high traffic? Consider covering one or two sides of the cage, see if that helps her feel more secure?

At two weeks old (did i read that right?) she probably doesnt need a basking spot at all?

what brand of calicum with D3? with most brands you dont need to use that every day, but rather a plain phosphorous free calcium only (no d3) supplement.

Zoo-med D3 calcium and rep-cal plain cal. I do not use it everyday.

She is hitting the crickets spot on and the tongue just pushes them. Once in a blue moon she will get one but her tongue sorta launches away with she pulls it back.

I did not know about the basking. I shall turn it off for now

Weird. I've not seen this, so I've no suggestion except to wonder if perhaps the week old crickets are too large. Try pin heads? Keep on with the fruit flies, and other tiny prey. I used a lot of fruit flies with baby chameleons, baby (as in a couple days old to a week old) crickets, mealworms (freshly shed) half a cm small, baby silkworms...

here is a picture of her coloring. Its pretty cool long but not sure if its normal

shall do! Thanks for the advice. I ordered pinhead from mulberry.

alright. Thanks to Murphy's law this new thread has gave my baby incentive to start eating fruit flies so cancel the call for help.

I would still be cool to get an opinion on those colors of hers.. stress bars or just bad ass birthmarks?

When baby veileds are under some stress, they can look like yours. Normally they will be green at this age. Is yours like this all the time?

she is green for short periods of time but she has been looking like that for the past 2 days. I moved her to a new cage because the other baby female was gaping at her so maybe the new environment is stressful...

chams stress when moved to new surroundings. I like the idea sandra gave about covering a side of the cage to lower her stress from seeing all around her. It'll give her less to focus on.

alrighty. I will use pillow sheets and cover up some sides

Plasic might be better.... it won't mold if it gets wet.... :)

Keep an eye on the temps when you start to cover sides. you don't want to cook your little girl :D

I dont think that will be a problem. One of the other members said that she is young enough to not have the basking lamp but yes i shall keep an eye on the temps

you said the basking is 80 and the ambient is 75. that sounds good for her. at night keep her in the low 70s and things should go well for her. they need a cool down at night as they get older..... but to help her grow a warmer temp at young age is good to maintain at night.

ya just don't want daytime temps to jump too high for her.

The chameleons in captivity book is helping a lot with the basics. Im sure she will be fine in a couple days.

Too small, even for a baby imo

Lighting - exoterra UVB and 50 watt basking bulb

What kind of UVB?

Placement - computer table in my room. High traffic

Find aroom with less traffic. that explains the stressy bars.
Handling - every other day

Thats too much handling.

Feeding - 1 week old crickets with calcium D3 and vitamin supp. (8 crickets a day)

You NEED calcium without d3 instead of with d3 all the tme. also, try some more feeders. she'll get tired of crix.

Supplements - calcium d3 and multivitamin.

W/ D3 twice a month.
W/O d3 6 times a week
Reptivite twice a month

Watering - Hand spray, 3 times a day. Never see her drink

I would gt a dripper, but its not needed

Fecal Description - fecal seems to be fine

is her pee a little orange? because if it is, get a dripper.

Thanks,
-Steven
