I'm thinking a care deficiency or old age problem would manifest itself much more slowly. I'm going with the injury theory. Make sure he gets plenty of food and water now. A trip to the vet might be a good idea to make sure there isn't something like an abcess on the tongue as well, etc.

But I stiil advocate making positive changes in his environment and husbandry.

Yeah, That sounds pretty logical...I am worried to take him to the vet, I know that sounds funny but, when my little girl chameleon was sick and I took her to the vet, I think the stress of it is what put her over the edge, cuz that night she was SO much worsem then she died pobably like 3 days later.

You know how easy it is to stress them out.

Pretty much yeah, Like fine one day then weird the next, gotten a bit more weird though, like at first he wouldnt fling his toung out far, but a little, then couple days later wont put it out hardly at all, like just past his lips.

So you really think the ceramic bulb is bad? Thats what my vet said to use... Cuz he already has a lot of UVA UVB, But I dont know I am open to any suggestions. And I know it is sad people release them to the wild here in Florida, Its mostly Iguanas, But it is the chameleons too I know, It was so sad cuz it still gets too cold here in the winter when we get cold snaps, and just a couple weeks ago it got down to the high 30's mid 40's and they had it on the news that there were dead Igaunas and chameleons all over the place We bring our in when it gets below 60.

Your cham wouldn't need night time heat here in Florida, I would simply bring him in if temps dropped below 60 (like last night-a nice 42 degrees here!). They need the drop in temps at night. Don't feel too sad about those poor wild caught Veileds-they are doing just fine. I am seeing plenty of them coming in and they are the largest, healthiest things around-huge casques, nice oranges. Feel sorry for the native wild life that is getting cheated out of their food supply while these things multiply like rabbits!
I would get rid of the ceramic bulb, they really do associate with the "white light" for basking like everyone here has said.
Also-be careful in the summer-extended periods of high heat and humidity can cause URI's.

I've only scanned this thread and looked at the basics of this being a "new" problem that manifested quickly. Admittedly, I didn't look so much at the husbandry discussion of the first page or two so if they're recommending changes I would agree.

As for posting a pic, the eastiest thing to use is the little paper clip button above the text area in your responses. You might have to resize them if they are too large for the site. Otherwise you can upload them to a host like photobucket and link to it.

I will try to get a picture of one that just amazes me-if I had more room for Veileds right now I would have him-he is easily 20" long with a HUGE casque-very orange-beautiful markings.

Nice straight chunky legs!
It's hard to really see him in that picture ... but I'm going to say that I certainly don't think he has MBD.
I wouldn't be to worried about a vet visit. He will do fine.
I think you should take him in for a wellness check ... and bring a fresh fecal.
