tongue problem

Hi i got a female panther 2 days ago and iv noticed she doesn't seem to spit her tongue out to catch her food she gets ready to then it seems like she can't
The lady i got her from said shes lazy and that you have to hand feed her but it seems to me that she can't
Dose anyone know what could be wrong

Most likely it is not because she is lazy. That is ignorance on the previous owners part. Tongue trouble can be caused by nutritional imbalances or some type of injury. Seeing that you have not had her long enough to observe her, you will not know if the trouble came on suddenly or gradually. Is there anyway to ask the lady you got her from, how long it has been going on?? Dehydration and calcium imbalances can be causes also.

Her previous owner is clueless, though sometimes a cham who has always used a small feeding cup that they can climb right up to might not be exercising her tongue as much as one who has to shoot at a distance. But, Carol is right...its most likely a nutritional problem or possibly a tongue injury.

Please describe how the previous owner dusted, supplemented, and gutloaded the cham's feeder insects. And, describe how you will do this...be specific as to product brands. What would you change? What about UVB lighting? Old or new bulbs?

I don't know how the previous owner was careing for her in terms of supplements but i will be using zoo med repti calcium without d3 every other day and nutrobal calcium Balanicer with d3 & multivitamin once every 2 weeks
For gutloading i use bug burger
I will be replacing her uv bulb this weekend so i will know how old it is and when to replace it i will use arcadia 6%

I think it might be a injury her poo is nice and white and iv seen her drinking she can put her tongue out enough to drink just doesn't seem to be able to spit it out to catch food

As stated above.

Injury could be a possibility. If your able to. I would examine the tongue to be sure there is not a visible infection.

VitA, VitB are just a few other nutrients that help proper tongue function. A vitamin deficiency could also be a possibility. I would look into a good multivitamin like cal plus or reptivite to provide necessary nutrients.
