I have one baby that is having trouble shooting his tongue .the first time i saw him doing it was yesterday it looked like he was going to shoot for the feeder that was close by but he kinda just stuck his tongue out slow and tried reaching for the feeder with it but before he can get the ff it just fell off the leaf and it seemed like he tried to dragged his but it got stuck to the leaf so he put it back in.the baby is about one month and three weeks the two i have are doing good .

what do you think about tong feeding him and gradually increasing the distance itl get him used to your hand aswell and you can start hand feeding after a while

was he using the tongue ok prior? Maybe he hurt it and it needs to heal. From what I have learned, if they cannot use their tongue over time and it is a gradual decline then it would not be an injury. If all of the sudden he cannot shoot and could like the day before, then something may have happened like an injury. edit: sorry, I see you said he was using it ok. So maybe consider an injury of some sort

Could he have hurt his tongue? Is he still doing it? Would ff stick to your wet finger? Just some thoughts.:)

I would keep an eye on him every feeding. If its permanent you are going to have to hand feed it. I had a female I had to hand feed her or disable the cricket s so it can get to it easier.I was told it was a lack of vitamin A but yours is too young to have a deficiency..I think its a injury.let him try for a few days though maybe he o r she can work it I out. If not hand feed it.good luck

Ok so he still has an issues using his tongue and i don't think its an injury ...yeterday i saw him hunting for food and he stuck his tongue out and tryed reaching the feeder with his tongue "he didn't try shooting at it..
Then wen he missed his tongue just fell out and he started walking with his tongue hanging out.oy stretched out pretty far too and i even noticed he walked on it and i guess when he noticed he was on his tongue he pulled it back in...
Oh yeah i tryed hand feeding but he got scared...

I was told it was a lack of vitamin A but yours is too young to have a deficiency.

It could be vit a or calcium (possibly vit d) or injury.

No cham is too young to have a deficiency. The mother could be deficient. Deficiency in babies can show after only a few meals without supplementation.

Don't know for sure what the problem is in this case, but if you haven't used a supplement with a or d3, it might help.

Yes the mother wasn't up on her supplementation when i bred her out of 50 eggs only 4 hatched and these 2 babies hatched out of the eggs and when they detached from the egg they also didnt have the extra little embrio attatched...and it might also be my supplements causr I've only been giving them plain calcium I've given them repashy calcium plus like twice...so what do you think i should do what do you think my options are???
