Tommy Update

Tommy produced his first poop offering on Sunday. Sadly, his urates were quite orange although he had drunk a lot the first day I got him. Also his faeces were quite wet/loose too. I put this down to the stress of being moved and getting used to a new environment. I keep offering him water from a syringe and am getting him used to the misting routine!

Today he produced another poop/urate and I was very pleased to see that everything has improved! His urates only had a small amount of orange on the end and his poop was more solid.:D I also saw a small cream coloured 'thing' sticking out of his vent, which from seeing pics on here I knew that it was a sperm plug, albeit a very small piece. Later I saw that he had wiped it onto the branch. I am so happy that everything is ok with him! His last owner said that Tommy is a 'hand humper', lol! I guess I have that to look forward to!:D

He is in a temporary cage today whilst the sealant cures in his viv. Tonight the top will be cut out and wire put over to allow the lights to go outside and above him. He should be much happier then! More pics will follow once his setup is complete!:D

I am glad he is happier in his new home! We all knew that he colidn't resist the Tiff=love syndrone. Great job Tiff.

Lol!!hand humper!!now there's a vision:eek: good luck with his new set-up,glad he is settling in well for you, can't wait to see the pic's:D

Tommy's past ....

Well, I discovered a bit more about Tommy today from the people who originally sold him as a baby. He was at the exotic pet shop where I got Lily for a while and was handled frequently as a youngster, and he was always very placid even as a tiny baby! His first owners split and sold him to the father of the chap I got him from. However, he was passed back and forward between father and son a couple of times after this. I am so amazed that he is so relaxed after all he's been through. The shop owners are really pleased that he has found a permanent forever home with me.

His cage has finally been finished - at the advice from the shop owners I had a square cut out of the top of the cage to place the lighting outside. As it can get quite windy and cold on the coast they suggested this rather than removing the whole top in order to retain heat. I am glad I asked advice as I hadn't thought that the heat would just escape upwards! I need to add another vine for him, but it was nearly lights out time and I needed to get him back in and settled for the night, so I will add the vine tomorrow. Pics will follow - the ones I took tonight didn't come out too well due to the lighting in the room!
