Today is the day!

Today is the day that Tinkerbell our veiled chameleon is suppose to lay. She has always been like clockwork laying every 90 days during her mating season. she has not been mated since Novemeber 2011. So we aren't expecting much but Shes viably gravid, and has been searching her enclosure for the last 2 days and yesterday she dug her hole and climbed out right before lights out. Today she has been digging ALL day today. Today is exactly 90 days since her last clutch was laid so I believe today will be the day she lays. Good luck Tinkerbell. I am going to have her warm shower ready for after she lays as well as some horn worms and silk worms for when she is ready to eat. its so exciting! she has been secluded by herself for 2 days and hopefully today will be the day! :D

Have you looked into methods to prevent her from laying eggs when she hasn't been mated? It can help prolong her life if she doesn't lay so much.

I have been looking up methods. if all goes well this will be her last clutch until this time next year :D thanks

well today was apparently the day. Steve and I just finished digging up 66 eggs from our tink. I am wondering now if this was a retained clutch and I even put her on a diet so to speak from the over feeding she was getting and now for the 3rd time she has laid 66 eggs???
Why does she keep laying the same amount??
Sept 18th 66 eggs
December 18th 66 eggs
March 21st 66 eggs???
This will be the last clutch that tink should produce this season and I just find it odd that shes laying such large clutches even after reducing her food intake again after the 2nd clutch.

I was not aware that they had an "actual mating season" I thought they could lay eggs year round???????? Someone correct me on here If I am wrong please!

I just ment that her last mating was the last mating. (November) I don't plan on letting her mate again until this time next year.

Edit: I am also going to add that I know they produce eggs when not mated so no one feels the need to pick a part what I say
