I am breeding dubias right now and want to expand onto some worms, grasshoppers and other things and was wondering if you would give me some tips on the best ways to breed them. anything would help.

some good music and low lights :D j/k

All i know are crickets are super easy but you have to maintain and keep them fed and hydrated and they easily die.

Buy 1000 count adults place in bin and have a container full of soil as well in there. After a day or 2 removed soil container and get remaining crickets outs. You will have 1000's in week or so if you leave that container in a warm area.

I do about the same. I found a 20lb bag of potting soil I didnt even know I had it!!
I put a tray of moist (not soaking wet) soil in a tray a few inches deep and stick it in the cricket tub and put a piece of egg flat over it.

Make sure you have plenty of adult cricks in your tub.

I leave the dirt in there a week or so, then transfer it to it's own clean tub with egg flats and heating mat under it at about 80F.

Takes weeks for them to hatch, then feed them with cricket crack, gratted carrots, apple, etc.
I put wadded wet paper towels in for their water.
If they dont have food and esp. water, they will die very soon.

If you want to raise mealworms; take adults and but them in a tub/bucket (not huge, sort of like a large dog food bowl) fill with chicken feed. They will molt and become black beetles. Feed the beetles scraps of food (veggie/fruti) like you do for dubai and crickets. Soon the cycle of life happens and you will have gobs of mealworms. The chicken feed is what they will eat mostly and use the fruit/veggie as a water source. They like it dark and warm. I raised my first batch this summer without a heat source, so I would think they like it 70 plus . :D

For superworms you have to separate the largest 2" worms so that they will pupate. Once they become beetles put them in a nice fine (healthy) dry gutload and feed tham veggies and fruits. They will kay eggs and worms will hatch. Warmer is better.

Mealworms can just be placed into a dry fine gutload and fed veggies/fruits. They will breed at room temp.

Silkworms and hornworms are harder because they need the special chow to feed them. Check out my blog. There are some feeder care/breeding entries in there.
