Time between breeding

I just can't get a straight answer on how long a female should wait between being bred. Anyone? Anyone???

Iv never bred chameleon yet but the logical thing would be once she lays her eggs and they hatch after they hatch give her 3-4 months after her babies hatch thts how I would do it :)

There is no straight answer really. Assuming you are talking about a panther or veiled...once the female has been bred and laid her eggs she will remain non-receptive for a while after...so all you can do is show her to the male by holding her outside the male's cage. When she show's receptive behavior she can be mated again....but, she doesn't have to be mated then. However with either, they may produce a second clutch of eggs without having been mated again and in the case of panthers, several more clutches without having been mated again.

Hope this helped??

Definately did. I think my female Nosy is just being easy LOL! She laid 20 eggs 2 weeks ago and is already showing she is ready for another go. I showed her the male and she wasn't against it. I'm still waiting to see if she will drop another clutch within the next couple of weeks.

I guess I'm conservative and I really care allot about my females but I would never breed more than once a year. From one breeding they can and often do lay the first clutch and then two retained clutches. Every clutch she lays will shorten her life.

I don't think there is any shame in breeding a female more than once a year. Just me.

If she's a breeder and not a pet and you don't really care about her health go for it. I would also like to add that it's not recommended to breed before a year old and I would never breed after three years old.

After laying the eggs you should wait at least 28-30 days beofre trying to breed the female again.

Breeding

Females are genetically dialed in to breed as much as possible before they die. In fact that is all they want to do after 6months or when they are sexually mature of age and im not saying breed them at 6 months even though i have. I guess it all depends on how you care for them. I treat all my females like queens. I have a female veiled who I bred 3 times a year for her first three years. I do agree that after three years it is enough and she should be treated like a queen even more so and maybe that's why my female is going on five years now. I also monitor my females closely because at times even when being receptive they shouldn't be bred if they are not 100% healthy. Just my opinion.
