Well my nosy be was sold to me as a male, but the shop owner admitted he couldn't guarantee it as they're hard to sex when young.

Today (he) looks very dark & appears to be gravid like colours. See Below.

When taking these photos (he) went light again (see below) but went dark again when I stopped chasing (him) around.

Here's a shot to help in the sexing, anyone 80/90 % sure either way then please let me know.

Obviously I need to know if it's female & gravid cos I'll have to get a laying bin in there pronto. Thanks

Thanks guys.

Thought the bulge looked very male but I'm a complete newbie. Good to know.

What's up with the dark brown colouration then ? Just moody ? or an indication to something else ?

edit: sorry missed the question. He's around 4 1/2 to 5 months. He's shed twice in the 5 weeks I've had him. Getting more colours every day.

He was advertised as a Nosy but he's not very blue as yet, could well be a mixed locale. Have to wait & see I guess. All part of the fun !:D

Is it normal to see red turrets on a Young Nosy?

The first shot appears to be stress colors... My Nosy Male gets dark blue blotches when he is stressed.

Judging from the second photo, i don't believe this nosy is pure. Still a good looking healthy animal and if you don't plan on breeding him who cares right?

My Nosy boy took 8 months to get really blue and now at 11 months is still coloring up. For a while he was grayish or sometimes even a soft pinkish brown but the color slowly crept in with each moult. Wait a couple of months and he will look totally different.

P.s I dont think yours is a mixed locale just young:)

Yeah, not bothered if he's not a pure Nosy anyway. Just gonna see how he turns out. I'll keep u all updated.
