Depends on how many your cham eats. You can buy bulk online and it will be alot cheaper then buying locally. Unless you know of a place. I usually buy 1000 at a time. Last a long time.
As far as a container to store them. All you need is a large plastic box with venting. With a couple of egg crates. Also, geled water because crickets drown in shallow water..

When i had one Cham i found it easy to just buy locally. But i now have 3 and they eat like pigs!!
I go through 1000 crickets in a little under under/ little over a month (depending on how many other feeders i'm offering).
Something to note: I order 1/2" crickets, justtt because i can't stand the chirping. They tend to be a little softer bodied over the adults (if you are feeding younger Chams)

I buy 2000 crickets every month in a half to two months.
And sometimes I buy locally if I run out.
But I have 2 chams.
I also bought bulk when i only had one.
Now what i do, is buy them smaller than what they should be eating.
This way, the crickets wont get too big for my boys before i can feed off.
I buy young ones, and 5 week olds, but i have a baby hoehnelli and a 11 month old veiled.
I mean, the chirping happens when the crickets get to adult. but then they start to breed, and honestly, with the cham room door shut, you can hear them unless you stand with your ear to the door.
I found that buying from mulberry farms, (a site sponsor) I didnt have die off, cept from old age.
Local crickets die alot faster, and never reach adult size for me.

I buy 1000 1/2 inch, I have one 10 month Panther and one Bearded Dragon. I recommend getting two plastic totes so you can move them from one to another when you clean the box, they stink. I also use water crystals. I feed them Bug Burger all the time, and mix in various greens, flukers cricket feed, flax powder, veggies. No spinach or iceberg lettuce. They are basically para-nah in a box! It amazes me how much they devour. Except for the smell, its fun raising them. When they are getting old a few will chirp and I like the sound brings me back home to the country. You feel better when you know your crickets are eating good and passing it on to your reptiles. When you get them at the pet shop they are probably just on basic maintenance diet.
