I also dont see how 2'x'2x4' is so much space. If that is big enough for two then why dont people keep their females in 1'x1'x2' cages?

Lol yeah thats what i was thinking, because its cubic measurements so it substantially bigger. That still doesnt mean i agree OR dissagree with the topic at hand.

I have read, and been told many different things. I have read that females can be kept together, and been told (from a person that said he has been to madi) in the wild all the females live in one tree, granted its a BIG tree but they are semi close to eachother, only because the male will be in the area trying to breed with them when they show receptive colors.

I personally keep ALL my females separate, much less hassle for them and myself, and easier to make sure they are being fed enough and (in my case, with 2 females that become receptive at the same time) there is no mix up with the eggs.

I think females can be housed together if the space is big enough AND the keep is VERY experienced.

Just my two cents. Its all personal choice for the time being, once there is signs of stress, or fighting then it becomes a matter of whats clearly the right thing to do.

But now to begin with a ridiculously out there way to explain how I got that measurement. Ok so if you have two females, so split the cage in two. But one is going to be dominant over the other in some ways. So she will control more then the other. So she will control 40% of the cage. They will share 20%. Add in wasted space of a large pot, corners, and the bottom of the cage and you have a total of 70%. So that is how I got 1/4th the volume.
But that is all an excuse and I was just stupid with math. Still funny tho.

about a 4' by 2' by 2' cage there is so much room.....and they dont have to do any of that together they could have done things seperate they sit side by side i think they enjoy eachother my opinin in observation

One more thing to consider is if they are in separate cages you can monitor their poop to make sure they are both going as well as eating and drinking. I had a male panther and purchased a female (at least that is what the breeder told me) come to find out it was actually a young male that hadn't bloomed yet. I kept them together because I thought they were getting along. I lost my older male panther because I didn't see the warning signs of him getting ill. Like making sure he was pooping and drinking. I noticed his eyes first being sunken in and I took him to the vet and he died that day. Not sure if it was the shot the vet gave him that killed him (personally I don't think the vet knew what he was doing) or if I just didn't see the signs sooner. That is why I will never keep chams together ever again. Just my experience I wanted to share.
