These girls are gorgeous and have just recently gone on their hunger strike. not even hornworms nor their favorite (dubia) can get them to eat. so it's as much water offering as possible! And of course, offering a selection of feeders of : crickets, superworms, dubia, hornworms, and soon im going to be getting silkworms, so they'll get a chance to have some of em. They havnt had any silkworms in over a month or so, so hopfully it'll trigger something...?

This girl mated a little over 2 weeks ago. And quit eating as of yesterday. I am going to continue offering food to them.

Both of their cage wall's are covered with a familiar colored towel thats always on one of their sides.

Have any of you had a female that quit eating, then began eating again while gravid? I havnt, just curious?

I'm starting to think that some virgin females are aware of whats happening in their body. Is this totally not true?

One has quit eating an entire week before the first girl... I realize every chameleon is different... but still.. a week seems a long time?

Maybe the second one is just cycling more eggs. And is more full.

I honestly don't know much about the science of gravid females. I do understand the privacy, exta calcium ect.

If anybody could put some knowledge in my brain, it would be much appreciated.

Females usually stop eating before laying eggs. Keep a laying bucket with moist substrate in the cage at all times. Some females go off food a few days to a week or so before digging and laying the eggs. Its completely normal. You will notice her about half the size she is now after the eggs are deposited. She should take food right after laying her eggs. Be sure to hydrate and feed her well after the eggs are laid.
