Thermostat For Mesh Cage

Need some help, I'm getting a new panther chameleon soon and put the mesh cage together last night, its a zoo med repti breeze and not sure which is the best way to insert the thermostat probe?

Is it ok to make a small hole in the mesh to poke it through are will that damage the mesh really bad?

I have two thermostats one on top and one towards the middle ish bottom, along with a humidity gauge, all have seperate entry way threw the mesh, you should be all set
